Improvisation + Glass

One of my favorite things to do is to teach improvisation to artists who are not dancers. So often artists are natural movers because of the techniques they use to create whatever it is they are making. This is especially true of glass blowers – not only do they already possess a rich quality to their movements because of their work, but they also have ideas of form and space that translate beautifully to movement. I was honored to work with the glass assistants from The Chrysler Museum Glass Studio on their Third Thursday performance. We worked on ideas of light, and bringing their bodies into the performance. Many thanks to glass artist, Sarah Mizer, for making the connection.
