About

Jill B. Ware is a dance artist who works as an interdisciplinary spaces manager and faculty member for the VCUarts Depot where she enthusiastically engages in her love for the arts, collaborative projects, and arts-driven events. In addition to her work at the Depot, Jill has a productive history with the VCUarts Dance and Choreography Department as a teacher of technique, improvisation, and other dance forms, and a long engagement as an Artistic Associate with Amaranth Arts, a contemporary dance company that tours both nationally and internationally. She is a 2017/2018 faculty fellow for the Center for Teaching Excellence for her work with RVArts Cultural Passport, and the creator of the daily drawing project, 125 Images. Jill’s research practice is positioned in formal structures, exploratory movement, embodiment, and performance.

Recently, Jill and collaborator, John Henry Blatter, became essential research partners with the international virtual reality team, BeAnotherLab working on empathy and embodiment through emerging technologies in Virtual Reality. The Collaborative team have recently won the VCUarts Inclusion Infusion Grant, the VCUarts Exploratory Research Grant, and the VCUarts Faculty Inclusion Grant to further their research goals. Jill holds a BFA in dance performance from SUNY Purchase and an MFA in dance from George Mason University.
